Innovation Conference 2025
Our First Annual Innovation Conference invited 120+ students from around 30 countries to compete for a number of prizes. Students were tasked with tackling a public health issue towards a specific demographic population--and they did it flawlessly. Over the course of 3 months, they researched and prototyped solutions for a variety of problems. Through review with our Events Department and our Advisory Board, placement was determined. Murder Mystery & Forensics 101
October 2024
One of our fun, halloween-themed events featured a PhD student from Vanderbilt University in forensic science. She led students through a case study surrounding the murder of Dr. Emily Warren with a focus on forensic pharmacology. Through digital analyses, students compiled a case report on the issue.
Camp Biomed 2024
Our summer camp provided students from 30+ countries not only the chance to manage virtual labs, establish lab reports and case studies, connect with other non-profits or medical organizations, but also a capstone .xyz research sponsorship for the top 15 capstone papers. With over 300 students and 10 partnered non-profits, Camp Biomed 2024 was one of the largest student-run free biomedical summer camps internationally, which we pride ourselves for.

Camp Biomed 2023
In this 5-week summer camp, participants gained the opportunity to conduct virtual labs, construct lab reports and case studies, network with various nonprofits and medical organizations, and create a capstone project. With over 150 students from 25+ countries and 30 partnered nonprofits, Camp Biomed 2023 was one of the largest STEM networking events held virtually for youth globally.

Medical Ethics and Organ Transplantation with Dr. Brendan Parent, JD
Dr. Brendan Parent JD, professor of Medical Ethics and Bioethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Langone Health, joined students in an insightful discussion about medical ethics and its place in healthcare.
Dr. Priyanka Porwal, PhD, a public health dentist and medical writer based in Saudi Arabia, spoke to students about the basics of research, types of research, and levels of analysis. This lecture helped students break down their own capstone projects.
Precision Medicine with Dr. Marina Cordeiro, MD
Dr. Marina Cordeiro MD, a precision medicine physician in Dubai, spoke to students on the growing field of precision medicine in the 21st century and its implications in healthcare.
Megan Parish, PhD candidate in bioinformatics at the University of Birmingham, spoke to students about the basics of bioinformatics and its growing use in academia. She spoke on her personal research regarding cancer genomics and provided students with various databases to conduct their own analyses.
Biotechnology with Marie
Marie, a biotechnologist, spoke about biotechnology and its advancements due to technology. She outlined the types of biotechnology with an in-depth view of what each entails, with a special focus on its use in medicine.
Dr. Jenny Bloodgood, Professor of Veterinary Sciences at Cornell University, joined us in a discussion about veterinary science, marine life, and animal preservation. We did a deep dive in Dr. Bloodgood's experience with animals and her research.
Hematology with Dr. Rohit Kapoor, MD
Dr. Rohit Kapoor MD, Hematologist and Oncologist in India, spoke to students about the vast field of hematology and outlined the basics in hematology including blood anatomy and common hematological diseases such as leukemia.
Priya Tyagi, undergraduate student at the University of Maryland majoring in Cell Biology and Genetics, spoke to students about radiology, biomedical imaging, and her research project about machine learning and pediatric cancer tumors through radiomic features. Through a deep-dive of her research, students were able to craft their own using her insights.
A World We Once Knew: How Neurobiology and SDGs align
The founder of A World We Once Knew, Aryana Wadhwani, spoke on the overlap between neurobiology and the UN's sustainable development goals. Through difficult questionnaires, the attendees won prizes such as Pura Vida bracelets, .
With a group of 6 excited contestants, the President of Medicine Informatics hosted a Medical Jeopardy with BioMedizone! Winners of the Jeopardy game won stickers as prizes.
In a series panel, BioMedizone invited Champion Lumumba, an aspiring neurosurgeon, to speak for a Surgery Panel. After this panel, BioMedizone invited Morgan P. and Anna M., both neuroscience professionals aiming for their neuroscience graduate degree, to speak about their experience.
Med Dreamers: Initiative - The Golden Word for Every College Application
In this event, BioMedizone partnered with Med Dreamers in order to talk to 15 students about Initiative and Passion Projects and ways high school students can add that to their resumes to make their portfolios impressive to college admissions officers.
Past Research Competitions
In our immunology research competition, our 110+ students explored a vast variety of fields in immunology, focusing their research on answering the following prompt on discussing the transition between traditional immunology to targeted therapies.
. The winners of this competition were published in the Global Youth STEM Journal. Winners were determined by a collaborative effort between our Events Director, Research Co-Director, and an undergraduate student at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in immunology.
